Focus and Scope

Indonesian Journal of Disability Studies is an international journal established by Brawijaya University Center for Disability Services. It has 2 issues per year (May and November). Indonesian Journal of Disability Studies is an open access, double peer-reviewed e-journal which aims to offer an international scientific platform for cross-border disability research. These may include but are not limited to various fields in disability studies such as inclusive education, social and policy inclusion, accessibility, inclusive technology and infrastructure, and intersectionality in disability research. 

The materials published include major academic papers dealing critically with various aspects and field of disability as well as shorter papers such as recently published book review. The goal of Indonesian Journal of Disability Studies is to bring the highest quality research to the widest possible audience.

Peer Review Process

In the reviewing process, there are at least two reviewers for each manuscript in the related topic. In addition, author(s) can also propose the candidate of reviewers. Judgement from the first reviewer will be main priority for editor to make decision, if there are only two reviewers. In case of three reviewers, decision will be made from at least two reviewers. Three weeks will be needed for reviewer to complete one round reviewing process.

Generally, the candidate of reviewers will be chosen based on their reputation in the international publication number and quality. Next step, The Editor send the invitation letter for each candidate of reviewer. After the candidate of reviewer informed their availabilities for reviewing process, Editor create account for each reviewer and then send manuscript by OJS.

All reviewing process are in double blind peer review and managed by editor in the OJS.

Publication Frequency

Indonesia Journal of Disability Studies published two times per year, in May and November.

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publishing and reading articles in this journal are free of charge.

Archiving

IJDS has electronic backup and preservation of access to the content of its journals via PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This can be seen at Publisher Manifest in LOCKSS and CLOCKSS. IJDS also has electornic backup in Portal Garuda Indonesian National Library.

Plagiarism

  • Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are not allowed;
  • The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted;
  • An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable;
  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Working Process:

  1. Editorial Team checking manuscript on offline and online database manually (checking proper citation and quotation);
  2. Editorial Team checking manuscript by using Turnitin app. If it is found plagiarism indication (more than 15%), the board will reject the manuscript immediately.

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Our goal is to communicate disability inclusion to all policymakers and academicians effectively. We also commit to share knowledge by publishing in open access journals that accessible for authors worldwide. We do not charge any submission fee and article processing charge for all articles published in this journal.

We welcomes article submissions and does not charge Article Processing Charges (APCs).

    Authors are not required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.
  • Article Publication Charges (APCs): 0.00 (USD)
    For Libraries/Individuals, can read and download any full-text articles for free of charge.

Repository Policy

Indonesian Journal of Disability Studies permits authors to deposit all versions of their work in an institutional or subject repository. This policy sets out the ways in which IJDS  authors can self-archive versions of their work on their own web pages, on institutional webpages, and in another repository. Further explanation can be seen in the table below.
